Dance students impressed the crowd with a range of dazzling performances
Hundreds of students from 35 primary and secondary Catholic schools from across the Diocese showcased their creative talents in a series of music, dance and strings performances throughout June, culminating in the ‘Best Of’ performance on 23 June.
The showcase events demonstrated the high calibre of choral, music and dance work from Catholic schools, under the Parramatta Diocese’s creative and performing arts initiative, CAPTIVATE.
The program provides learning and performance experiences for students, as well as builds expertise and a sense of community across the system. CAPTIVATE is very popular with five new schools joining the program since last year.

Little Learners - School Readiness Program
Little Learners is St Canice’s School’s fun, free, play-based school readiness program designed for children aged 3.5–5 years who will be starting school in the next 1–2 years.

World Cup Fever at St Canice’s! 💛💚⚽ This Friday, St Canice’s is excited to cheer on Australia as they take on Paraguay in the World Cup Soccer Match! 🔥 Our students will be watching the first half of the match in their classrooms as we come together to support the Aussies. Students are invited to wear a splash of green and gold to show their team spirit! 💚💛 To make the celebration even more special, our wonderful Stage 1 students will be preparing a fun treat for everyone to enjoy. ✨ We understand that big events can feel different for every child, so there will also be a quiet space available with alternative craft activities for students who would prefer a calmer environment. 🎨🌈 It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day of fun, community spirit, and cheering on the Socceroos together! #GoAustralia #WorldCup2026 #StCanicesKatoomba #SchoolSpirit #GreenAndGold #CSPD

🏃♀️🏅 St Canice’s Annual Sports Carnival 🏅🏃♂️ St Canice’s came together to enjoy our annual Sports Carnival on a beautifully crisp winter’s day. ❄️☀️ The day was filled with energy, enthusiasm, teamwork and plenty of school spirit as students gave their best in every event. From running races to novelty activities, it was wonderful to see so much encouragement, determination and fun shared by all. Stage 1 have been learning about Ancient Cultures, their stories and their artefacts. We have learnt the origins of the Dragon Boat festival. We made our own Dragon Boats and today we had some Dragon Boat races with them! We tried floating them down a "river" and well as blowing them along to see the winner. We did some drumming to make it authentic as well. What a fun lesson!

Kindy and Stage 1 had a lovely time at Secret Creek Wildlife Santuary yesterday. We met lots of endangered animals, had a lesson where we got to stroke a lizard and snake and learned so many new facts about the amazing place where we live. Thank you Secret Creek for hosting us and showing us your safe place for endangered animals.

Today, Taleishah from the CSPD Jarara Team visited St Canice’s to work with a group of students on the design of a Message Stick to celebrate and honour 50 years of NAIDOC this July. Our students enjoyed sharing ideas and learning about the significance of Message Sticks as they created a design that reflects our school community. The St Canice’s Message Stick will be one of many contributed by CSPD schools as part of the celebration of "50 Years of NAIDOC – The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy."
