Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Traditionally, people used up all of their flour, sugar and eggs ahead of the fasting season of Lent.

Lights! Camera! ACTION! Today was St Canice's Drama Showcase Performance! Every student in the school had a part to play and performed a variety of entertaining separate plays. A big thank you to our parents who were an amazing audience! A special thanks must go out to Jaiden and Rob for helping with the lighting. Thank you both! Most importantly, this day would not have been possible if it was not for Ms Dani's great work in preparing our students for the performances. Ms Dani, it was a great success and we cannot thank you enough!

Today we had the biggest turn out for Chess Club in the history of the club. Chess Club is currently using chess online to learn to play chess. The great thing about chess online is that the computer won't let the player make an illegal move. Chess online is a great place to learn the basics. Chess Club is on Every Wednesday at Lunch with Mr McCarthy in the Library. #stcaniceskatoomba💙 #chessclub♟♟♟

St Canice's Primary outdoor art gallery
The St Canice's Primary School art gallery is located outside the school, at 158 Katoomba Street. Each year since 2021, we display student artwork for half of the year and our photo exhibition photos for the rest of the year.

Farewell to our exchange students and teachers from Hong Kong. St Canice's has been blessed with 28 students, their teachers and support staff since Wednesday 3 April. They have added an extra dimension to our little school. They have been very conscientious students with a great capacity to engage with us and enjoy us as much as we have enjoyed having them. We will bid them a final farewell this afternoon at 2:20 with a short Assembly that you are most welcome to attend.

Our exchange students from Hong Kong have arrived, we are so lucky to have them share a week with us. Thank you to those families who offered to host. The students will attend each day from 3rd-9th April. They will engage in English speaking classes with their own teachers each day until lunchtime and will spend the afternoon spread among our classes. They will play with our students at Recess and Lunch.
