The St Canice's Primary School art gallery is located outside the school, at 158 Katoomba Street.
Each year since 2021, we display student artwork for half of the year and our photo exhibition photos for the rest of the year.
It all started in 2021 after COVID. We were sad that nobody could see what we were doing in school. We thought we should bring our school outside because people could not come inside. And that is how our art gallery started. It helped brighten people's day at a difficult time.

So what do the students think about the art gallery?
As Isy Gold in Year 2 said: "It helps us, especially if we are having a bad day. One look at our gallery brings smiles to our faces."

Seamus O'Keeffe, in Year 4, told us: "It is a great way of advertising our school in a creative way."
KC Cruz, also in Year 4, agreed. She said that the gallery brightens up Katoomba Street and the photos show the wonderful places and nature in the area.

Nicole de Bruyn in Year 6 borrowed a familiar phrase. "A picture tells a thousand words," she said. "Our beautiful pictures say so much about us, our school and Katoomba."
Our photo exhibition is the legacy of past principal, Mark Geerligs, whose vision was to give the entire community the opportunity to showcase our beautiful Blue Mountains home through photography.

Little Lyrebirds Playgroup is a FREE event for all little ones aged 0 - 6. Held at St Canice's Primary School every Wednesday of the school term, 9am-10:30am. Everyone is welcome.

Term 4 Music with Ms Frazer is a HUGE one for Stage 3. As well as preparing for an upcoming Musica Viva show and a variety of end of year performances in and outside of school, the year 5/6 students moved into small groups or bands during their music lessons. The goal of these bands is to work cooperatively, while generating and listening to each other's ideas to create, rehearse and perform their own original piece of music. The students will have to recollect and utilise all perviously learned content regarding tempo, feel, genre, dynamics, simple notation and score development. These pieces will be showcased at our Music Extravaganza which will be held in the hall on Wednesday 10th December from 1pm. Come along! More exciting news from Stage 2! We had 6 talented students who made the finalist list in the spooky writing and art competition hosted by Loose Parts Press. On Saturday night we braved the Haunted Lawson event to find out who won. Congratulations to Isy and Sophie who were runners up in the art competition! Nagle College Launches New STEM Scholarship for Future Innovators

Stage 2 have been learning all about decimals. Today we put our brains and bodies to the test! We did some races and recorded our times to 2 decimal places. Then we did some hard thinking and ordered our numbers using our knowledge of decimals to see who was the fastest runner in Stage 2. Can you guess who it is? We also calculated the difference between the times of many runners using our skills of placing decimals on a number line. What a fun maths lesson!

We have exciting news! At the end of Term 3 Stage 2 entered a Spooky writing and art competition. And today we have been contacted to say we have two amazing artists and four amazing writers who are finalists and in the running to win the big prize! How exciting! The winners will be announced at a spooky event at Rosey Ravelston bookshop at Lawson next Saturday night (1st November) starting at 6 30pm. Congratulations to Isy Sophie Troy Aiden Zander Annie. Mrs Clarke and some other teacher will attend the event and we would love you to join us. This is a family friendly event that includes a scavenger hunt and is open to all.
